Clear Which was sounded at 3 Am.  but at 8.30 Mrs Fords\u2019 Husband who has been on duty all night whistled us up.  then we heard a Jerry plane go over but I dont think he got away.  let him get over the coast & bang bang bang went the AA<\/a>\n<\/span>Guns. for about \u00bd hour or more.  getting so used to hearing noise & Gunfire that the time passes quite quickly  10.20 Am & we just had Breakfast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sat 31st 4 of us in Shelter to sleep Mr & Mrs Ford Margaret & I.  Dick Came in dinner time  Went to Tramway<\/a>\n<\/span>in Evening & Sirens went 9.30.  we went in the [illegible] [illegible] there for shelter.  stayed till nearly 11 then Chanced walking home just managed to get in before heavy Gun fire started.  Slept in Shelter all clear sounded 3 Am.  We all went up to bed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 1st Sept.  been to Horndean for the afternoon heard Gunfire over Portsmouth.  Dick gone back to Aldershot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wed. Sept. 3rd 4  No Warning Siren for 30 hrs now.  all weve had to remind us of war is Bombs exploding which were dropped last week Two were very near shook door & windows but have broken none at this house.  one year of war today & we are feeling more satisfied that Jerry must be feeling the pinch & that little England is more tuff than expected.  no new from David<\/a>\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sept 5th  since writing yesterday weve had nothing but Raids sirens sounded as soon as I closed this book we had lunch in Shelter Tea in Shelter. & spent the night in Shelter till 4.30 Am.  very heavy firing everywhere. around us.  today is another beautiful day. as regards weather must hurry & get done what has to be done because the feeling is certain that we shall get visitors later. but they are meeting with a very warm reception we seemed to be prepared for anything troops & Roads ready in case of invasion for nothing is impossible yet everything goes on the same.  here am I sitting in my dressing gown writing this & quite unconcerned.  Margaret has gone<\/p>\n\n\n\n
