of bombs on the sea shore.  we went on after that Raid to the Co op. & just got in the when the alarm went again & we had to go to their Shelter  they have reinforced their underground passages & made nice shelter installed wireless & refreshments are brought round.  after the all clear we went back & I just managed  to get a patent needle for mending silk stockings & then we went up to the Caf\u00e9 to get some tea  asked for poached eggs on toast  sorry couldn\u2019t have them  so for T I decided Sausage & Mash  the waitress came back & said very sorry no mashed potato Chips so Mrs F said alright but I\u2019m afraid the sirens are going & so you\u2019ll have to  the sirens  are just sounded now so I\u2019ll away & get my things up together as per usual<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nov. 5th Guy Fawkes night  not a bit like it although what it may be like later one cannot predict but no children collecting their pennies for firework for they are banned owing to the Blackout & bangs & I suppose we need the gun Powder for more effective use.  We\u2019ve had a quiet Weekend. but the weather has been so bad  Rain & Terrific wind  I heard from Margaret today  she said Derwent had gone to Dungeness in Nr Hastings & she is going on to Joan on Sat.  I also heard from Dick  he has just got a Room Which has 2 single beds in & I would have to do for ourselves & use an oil stove for cooking  a modern house with Bathroom so probably it\u2019s meant that I should cook eat & sleep in same room. which I do not relish  12\/6 per week.  I\u2019m really no nearer going away than at the beginning of the war. but who knows. What may turn up  Joan also wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
