to me  I\u2019m afraid her letter was thoughtless & rather hurt me but who\u2019s to blame but the one\u2019s that brought her up  I\u2019m sorry we didn\u2019t or couldn\u2019t see more clearly.  perhaps I should have listened to what Dick said to me. but we did our best so why regret. but as I sit alone. I have only myself to blame.  I simply staked everything on Joan.  I wonder why I write this.  perhaps She & the boys will understand one day.  I long to see David  I feel very unhappy about him.  we had two Air Raid warnings today but nothing happen<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAT Nov 9th A real bad Nov: day  Rain wind & mist  Bill took me to see Dick at Storrington  What a place.  I suppose it was once a very beautiful Estate but now it\u2019s simply tumbling to bits  I mean the House & stables in which Dick has to live & work  it\u2019s beautiful Country all around with good old aristocratic buildings  the village does not provide any conveniences  fort the troops  if Dick stays there I shall go there so that will have some little comfort but at present his day is a 24 hr one  this week has not been too bad for raids.  had a quiet night last night& none so far today.  \u201cMr Chamberlain\u201d is very ill  Der has gone to \u201cLYDD\u201d about 20 miles from Dover so once again he\u2019s in the front line  no news from Lionel<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nov 11th Armistice Day but there was no two minutes Silence this year  the only thing to remind those who are likely to forget is the Flanders Poppy which is on sale for the \u201cHaig\u201d Fund for Ex service Disabled men this year\u2019s fund will have to be shared with the civillians as well.  yesterday evening Jerry Bombed us.  incendiarys and Whistlers  Kensington, & Kirby Road & 6 houses were demolished in Station Road.  I dont know the extent of damage yet but it seems the small property has caught it again  we\u2019ve had 2 alerts this morning & we\u2019ve<\/p>\n\n\n\n
