heard Jerry but couldn\u2019t see him  the sky is very overcast & it\u2019s raining<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nov 16th Sat: & still bad weather but not too bad for Jerry to visit us on the night of the 14th   the alert went at 7.30 pm & lasted for exactly 11 hours.  the planes we over constantly & very heavy firing & bombs of all descriptions falling  we went to bed at 2.30 down stairs & slept well.  there were Bill & Mrs Ford & I playing 9 card Brag for \u00bdd till that time & the time passed quickly  had a moment which does not sound funny put as I do it on paper when with Mrs Ford & Bill heard the whizzing of a couple of Bombs Bill never moved but Mrs Ford looked at me & at the door  her face registered fear & I thought something was happening in the Hall or Kitchen  I simply rushed out not know what for (The Alert is going at this moment) when I heard Bill say. is alright now & Mrs Ford had dived under the Table.  after we had settled down again we could see the funny side of it & had a good laugh  it\u2019s now 2 hours later & the all clear has gone  we never had them get this far our boys went out to meet them  they have bombed Coventry in a most horrible way nearly 1,000 killed  it must have been Terrific  I hope we never see the like  I had a letter from David yesterday also Lionel  David had just heard that Dick had got back to England & was tickled to Death on hearing Der was going to get married but wished him all the best  Lionel was grumbling. because they had moved him out of London to Winsor  it\u2019s too quiet there he says he\u2019d only heard 2 Guns fired  I should have thought he\u2019d have been pleased. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
