A very quiet day after a quiet night yesterday there were 5 alarms but no planes penetrated or dropped their Cards in or near Portsmouth Lionel has just returned for 7 days leave. he goes back on Dec: 2nd he’s been pumping the water from the Air Raid Shelter & cleared up in the garden a very nice day
Nov 30th on the 28th we went to Arundel. a nice day but very cold saw Father but he is not going to stay there long we stood & watched the planes fighting in the Sky some miles away 3½ hr raid over the SE Coast. & When we returned another Raid was on but we got home alright yesterday we went down Commercial Road & then went to the Picture The Regent North End. at 5.30 Whilst we we in there the Siren went but we stayed and saw the full programme very heavy Gun Fire when we came out it was fairly quiet Lionel & Mrs Ford walked as she had to make a call I got on a bus and half way home the Guns opened up again very heavy indeed I was home first of course & the paper boy had pushed the key off the string & I couldn’t get in front door had to go round the back didn’t like being out with the shrapnel falling all around & Wished Mrs Ford & Lionel had got on the bus was very glad when they got back safely. the raid continued till early morning dont think there were any bombs dropped we have a wonderful barrage. today has been very nice & our fighters have been going over evidently to meet Gerry outside no Sirens so far. sorry the siren has gone & I didn’t hear them but only just gone 6.30 pm
